DEFORESTATION

Flooding and Landslide happened in Sinjai a few months ago. It was caused by a highest rain volume. And that condition was getting worse by deforestation around that area.
Indonesia and Philipine were being countries with the highest deforestation flow in the world. Since 1985-1997 deforestation happened amount of 1.6 million hectare per year and got higher until 2.1 million hectare per year on 1997-2001.
What is deforestation? Deforestation is a condition or situation where many trees or forests are lost in larges area.
In all of the world, largest of forest amount 3.5 billion hectare. That numbers has been more reduced since 1700. And it has been reducing in continuously ± 13.7 million hectare per year. The largest of that area has same width with largest of Florida in United State of America.
There are many factors deforestation have been happening. The main factors have made forest damage or lost its area especially for tropical rain forest are low of knowledge about the risk of forestation. But, the most serious and problem much happen are felled trees with illegal way and without controlling that is illegal logging.
Forest exploitation for people are to make a new land for animal husbandry, farming, mining, agriculture, etc as one of the main factor of deforestation that has been caused by plunder forest, firing land and conversion land.
According to Prof. Dr. Arminda Alisyahbana that we needed Indonesian sustainable development where forest damaging in Indonesia has in dangerous level.
Each damaged must be give effect like deforestation. The impact are :
- Many species like plant or animal will damage and could be lost
- Natural Disaster
- Global weather changed
- Emission of Carbon dioxide in atmosphere will increase in quality
- Process of global warming will be fast
If we have been known the impact, automatically we are trying to find a good solution to solve the problems like are :

Reducing consume the woods.
- Doing handle sustainable forest.
- Using forest area with fairness.
- Decrease rapid population.
Before we conduct all of that it is better if we do mutual understanding and awareness. That how important to guard our everlasting forest. Government and society have learnt to know the bad impact of deforestation and if we disobey it can made natural disaster.
We have to realize that each damage of forest we make it needs centuries to growth it.
